Where to buy and sell gold in Brisbane

By GoldVetted Editorial TeamLast updated Last fact-checked How we research
Quick answer

Brisbane is Ainslie Bullion's home city, and its Creek Street office sold a 1oz Perth Mint Swan bar for A$6,170.87 on 12 October 2026, free to collect. Imperial Bullion, with suburban stores, listed its own 1oz bar at A$6,148.75 the same day. ABC Bullion also has a Brisbane showroom. Investment gold carries no GST.

Brisbane's gold trade is split in two. Traditional bullion counters sit in CBD office towers, while one dealer sells from shopping-centre kiosks in the suburbs. Brisbane also has a private vault in the same building as two dealers. Here is what we could verify, and what it means for your costs.

Which gold dealers are in Brisbane?

Every dealer below appears with a Brisbane location on its own website or on The Perth Mint's official list of approved bullion distributors. We list streets and suburbs, not hours, so check with the dealer before you go.

Our reviews cover Ainslie Bullion, ABC Bullion and Brisbane Gold Company, and Ainslie vs ABC Bullion puts the two biggest Brisbane names side by side. If you are further south, Ainslie and several other dealers have counters on the Gold Coast; see buying gold on the Gold Coast.

Should you collect gold in Brisbane or have it delivered?

You pay the spot price (the wholesale value of the gold) plus a premium. Delivery is a third cost that a Brisbane counter can remove. These are single-item prices we captured on 12 October 2026.

How we checked: Imperial Bullion captured automatically at 11:25 UTC (spot A$5,973.76), Jaggards at about 11:19 UTC (spot A$5,976.19), The Perth Mint and Ainslie at 07:51 UTC (spot A$5,987.36), all on 12 October 2026, spot from gold-api.com. Both Imperial bars were marked pre-order, so they were not available to take home that day. ABC Bullion's site does not allow automated price checks, so we do not publish a premium for it. Later checks: premium tracker.

What this means for you: the cheapest prices in Brisbane were within about A$23 of each other on a single bar, so delivery and timing decide it. Ainslie's Creek Street office is the simplest way to walk out with a Perth Mint bar today: collection is free for 30 days, against about A$52 for its insured delivery (A$15 plus 0.6% of the value). Imperial's own bar was cheaper on paper but on pre-order, so you wait. The Perth Mint posts from Western Australia for A$17.50, but insurance in transit costs another 1.1%. For ABC Bullion, whose delivery is A$30 plus 1% insurance on orders under A$8,000, its Brisbane showroom avoids about A$92 on one bar. Where can you sell gold in Brisbane?

Brisbane has more over-the-counter buyers than most cities, which helps because selling in person avoids posting gold. Expect to be paid under spot; that gap is the dealer's spread.

  • Ainslie Bullion, Creek Street. Its Brisbane page says it buys back bullion with same-day cash settlement. Its online estimator quoted A$5,877.61 for 1oz of gold at 07:40 UTC on 12 October 2026, 1.96% under spot (A$5,994.95). The estimate is confirmed once the metal is tested.
  • Imperial Bullion. Buys gold and silver at all four of its stores, including the Chermside and Carindale kiosks, and says its sell prices refresh every minute. Its price table did not load for our automated check, so we do not quote a figure.
  • ABC Bullion. Buys in its showrooms with no appointment and no minimum, once you have an account.
  • By post to Sydney. Jaggards' live table paid A$5,798.57 for 1oz at 07:38 UTC, 3.31% under spot, lower than Ainslie on the day.

On those numbers, a Swan bar bought from Ainslie at A$6,170.87 and sold back the same morning would lose A$293.26, about 4.8%, so gold suits people prepared to hold. Compare more buyers in our guide to where to sell gold in Australia.

Where can you store gold in Brisbane?

Note the address: Reserve Vault sits in the basement of the same tower where Bullionmark and Queensland Mint trade on Level 6, so buying and storing can happen in one building. Banks do not say they insure box contents, so check your own cover. Ainslie's allocated storage costs A$15.50 per ounce of gold a year with a A$10,000 minimum, as our review explains. More options are compared in our gold storage guide.

Is gold taxed differently in Queensland?

No. GST is set nationally, so investment gold of at least 99.5% purity is GST-free in Brisbane just as in Sydney or Melbourne, and Queensland adds no bullion tax. Selling at a profit may create a capital gain. The full rules are in our Australian gold tax guide.

How do you stay safe buying or selling gold in Brisbane?

  • Use licensed buyers. Queensland's second-hand dealer rules require dealers to see ID showing the seller's name and address, record every purchase of jewellery or precious metals in a register, and hold those items for 7 working days. A buyer who skips the ID check is not following the rules.
  • Pay by bank transfer where you can. From 1 July 2026, AUSTRAC regulates bullion trades of A$10,000 or more paid in cash, and a transfer leaves a record for tax.
  • Kiosks are public. Buying in a shopping centre is convenient, but plan how you will carry gold to your car or vault. In the CBD, Ainslie validates parking at the Blue Tower car park if you tell staff.
  • Keep your invoice with product, weight, fineness and price.
  • Check what you buy. Our guide on how to tell if gold is real covers simple tests.

Queensland law requires licensed second-hand dealers to keep jewellery and precious metals for 7 working days after receiving them, and to record the seller's name, address and ID.
