About GoldVetted

By GoldVetted Editorial TeamLast updated Last fact-checked How we research

GoldVetted is an independent website that helps people in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia understand how to buy physical gold coins and bars. We explain the costs, compare dealers using checks we publish, and point to official sources for tax and regulation.

What is GoldVetted?

We write plain-English guides, dealer reviews and price comparisons for beginners. Everything is written by the GoldVetted Editorial Team. We do not name individual writers, and no page on this site is signed by a personal name. We are not a dealer, broker or financial adviser. We do not hold, sell or store gold for anyone.

Is GoldVetted independent?

Yes. No dealer owns us, edits our pages or pays to be reviewed. Dealers cannot buy a better score, a higher position in a list or a removal of unfavourable facts. If a dealer disagrees with something we have written, it can ask for a correction through our corrections process, and we will check the claim against a source.

How does GoldVetted make money?

Some links to dealers are affiliate links. If you click one and buy, the dealer may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. That is our only source of income from readers. We explain the details on our affiliate disclosure page and place a short notice above the first affiliate link on every page that has one.

What affects what on GoldVetted
QuestionAnswer
Can a dealer pay for a better review? No
Can commission rates change our order of dealers? No. Lists follow our published checks
Do you earn money if I click but do not buy?Generally no, commission depends on a completed purchase
Does it cost me more to use your links? No, prices are the same as going direct

How do we choose what to publish?

We start with the questions beginners ask: how much does gold really cost, which coins are sensible first purchases, how is gold taxed in my country, and how do I avoid scams. We then check each answer against primary sources such as mints, tax authorities and regulators. Our method for dealer reviews is set out on how we review gold dealers, and our standards for all pages are in the editorial policy.

Where do our prices come from?

Live gold prices on the site come from gold-api.com and can be delayed. Dealer prices come from our own automated checks, always shown with a date and the spot price at the time. See our premium tracker for the latest figures.

Who checks the facts?

Pages carry a "last fact-checked" date. We are also recruiting an independent precious-metals expert reviewer, described on our review method page. Until one is appointed, we do not claim any expert sign-off.

How can I contact GoldVetted?
