Silver Gold Bull review: is it a good place to buy gold?

By GoldVetted Editorial TeamLast updated Last fact-checked How we research
Our verdict

Silver Gold Bull is a large online bullion dealer founded in Calgary in 2009 and majority owned since 2024 by Gold.com, Inc. It knocks 4% off for Interac e-Transfer, bill payment or wire, ships free and insured over $999, and runs allocated vault storage in four countries. It suits online buyers who want storage.

What sets Silver Gold Bull apart from most Canadian dealers is scale and structure. It is not a single shop with a counter: it is an e-commerce business backed by a US-listed parent, with its own storage network and a sell-back system built into the same account. That makes it convenient, but it also means you cannot walk in and compare coins on a counter as you can at some Toronto dealers.

How much does Silver Gold Bull charge?

Every dealer sells at the spot price of gold in Canadian dollars plus a markup called the premium. Our guide to gold premiums explained covers why coins cost more than bars and small items more than large ones.

We tried to capture Silver Gold Bull's price for a 1 oz Gold Maple Leaf on 11 and 12 October 2026, alongside other Canadian dealers. Its site does not allow automated price checks, so we do not publish a premium for it. Here is what the same coin cost elsewhere, so you have a benchmark to compare against when you open its site:

1 oz Gold Maple Leaf, single coin, paying by wire (GoldVetted price check, 12 October 2026, spot CA$5,961.43)
DealerCoinPricePremium over spot
Gold Stock CanadaRandom yearCA$6,066.071.76%
Canadian PMX2026CA$6,151.403.19%
TD Precious MetalsCurrent year (listing price)CA$6,202.014.04%
Silver Gold BullNot shown: its site does not allow automated price checks

Prices read automatically from each dealer's product page on 12 October 2026 at about 07:51 UTC. Spot from gold-api.com. A Maple Leaf holds one troy ounce of 99.99% gold, so premium = price / spot - 1. More dated checks on the premium tracker.

How to use this: open the same coin on Silver Gold Bull, take its listed price (which is already the e-Transfer or wire price), divide by the spot price shown at the top of this page and subtract 1. If the result is under about 3.2%, it beats the Canadian PMX figure above; under about 1.8% and it beats the cheapest price we captured. If you plan to pay by card, add roughly 4 points first. Silver Gold Bull also advertises a best price guarantee ("We'll gladly match the competition"), so a lower dated quote from another dealer is worth having to hand.

Payment, shipping and insurance

Silver Gold Bull's payment page is unusually specific. It lists five methods, each with a limit and a clearing time:

Silver Gold Bull payment methods (from its payment page, 12 October 2026)
MethodOrder limitClears inCash discount
Interac e-TransferUp to CA$20,0002+ business days4%
Online bill paymentSet by your bank2 business days4%
Wire transferCA$1,000 and up1 business day4%
Credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, UnionPay)Up to CA$20,0001 dayNone
PayPalUp to CA$10,0002+ business daysNone

Two details matter. First, you must pay within 72 hours of ordering, and the page warns that late e-Transfers can trigger "market loss charges" if the price has moved against the dealer. Second, it says direct deposits or branch-to-branch transfers may be held for 60 days or more before your order ships, so use one of the listed methods.

Shipping is free on orders over $999. Every parcel is fully insured, tracked and needs a signature, and orders pack within five business days of cleared payment, which is slower than some dealers that promise next-day dispatch. Below the threshold, the shipping page lists a $19.95 rate and shows the exact cost in your cart. If you live in the Greater Toronto Area, you can ask about collecting through Brink's instead of home delivery.

Investment-grade gold (99.5% pure or better) is exempt from GST and HST, so a bullion order should carry no sales tax. Our Canadian gold tax guide explains the rule and what happens when you sell.

Storage: what Silver Gold Bull does differently

Storage is the main reason buyers pick Silver Gold Bull over a dealer with a lower price. Its storage page says it uses six facilities in four countries (Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Singapore), including its own facility in Calgary where it offers video audits. Metal is "allocated and segregated", meaning your bars or coins are held under your name and kept apart from other customers', and holdings are insured through Lloyd's of London.

The gap is cost. The page says fees "are variable based on the value of the metal holdings and storage location chosen" and asks you to call or email for a figure. Get the annual fee in writing, including any minimum and any charge to take delivery later, before you choose storage over a home safe or bank box. Its About page also notes that customers outside North America can currently only buy for storage, not delivery.

Selling gold back to Silver Gold Bull

Selling runs through the same account. According to its knowledge base, you add items to a Sell Cart that shows "real-time payout quotes", confirm the quote and receive shipping labels by email. Shipping to Silver Gold Bull is free and insured on sales over $5,000 and costs a flat $50 below that; sales over $100,000 can be dropped off at its Calgary vault. Once your metal is checked for weight and authenticity, it pays within one business day by wallet credit, direct deposit or wire. Metal already in its Calgary storage is treated as pre-verified, which shortens the process.

We could not capture its buy prices automatically, so we do not quote them. Before you sell, compare its quote with a dealer that publishes a share of spot; our guide to selling gold in Canada lists several.

Frequently asked questions

Is Silver Gold Bull legit?

Yes. Silver Gold Bull was founded in Calgary in 2009 and, since June 2024, has been majority owned (55.4%) by Gold.com, Inc., formerly A-Mark Precious Metals, a US-listed precious metals company. A-Mark's June 2024 announcement reported about 520,000 Silver Gold Bull customers as of April 2024. The LBMA has also profiled it as an Affiliate Member.

Who owns Silver Gold Bull?

Gold.com, Inc. owns 55.4% of Silver Gold Bull. Under its former name, A-Mark, it first invested in 2022, reaching 47.4%, then bought a further 8% for about US$9.6 million in June 2024 to become the majority owner. Its option to raise its stake further was extended to September 2025.

Is it cheaper to pay Silver Gold Bull by e-Transfer or wire?

Yes. Its payment page says bill payment, Interac e-Transfer and wire transfer earn a 4% discount, and that the listed prices already include this cash discount. Pay by Visa, Mastercard or PayPal and you pay about 4% more. On one 1 oz Maple Leaf worth around CA$6,000, that is roughly CA$240.

What is Silver Gold Bull's premium on a gold Maple Leaf?

We cannot say. Silver Gold Bull's site does not allow automated price checks, so we do not publish a premium for it. For comparison, our check on 12 October 2026 found 1 oz Maple Leafs at 1.76% over spot at Gold Stock Canada and 3.19% at Canadian PMX, paying by wire. See the Canada buying guide for the full table.

Does Silver Gold Bull offer free shipping?

Yes, on orders over $999. Its shipping page says every order is fully insured, tracked and needs a signature, and that orders pack within five business days of cleared payment. Smaller orders show a shipping charge in the cart; the page lists a $19.95 rate. Brink's pickup is offered in the Greater Toronto Area.

Can I sell gold back to Silver Gold Bull?

Yes. You add items to a Sell Cart that shows a live payout quote, confirm it, then ship using the labels it emails you. Shipping is free and insured for sales over $5,000 and costs a flat $50 below that. It pays within one business day of verifying your metal. Compare offers using our guide to selling gold in Canada.

Is Silver Gold Bull or Canadian PMX better?

They suit different buyers. Silver Gold Bull is online only, with a 4% cash discount and vault storage in four countries. Canadian PMX has a showroom in Richmond Hill, Ontario, and is a Royal Canadian Mint distributor.
