How much does Bullion Mart charge?

Every dealer sells at the spot price (the live market price of one ounce) plus a premium, which covers minting, shipping to the dealer and its margin. The Gold Maple Leaf is the easiest coin to compare in Canada because almost every dealer stocks it.

We read Bullion Mart's product page for the 1 oz Gold Maple Leaf (random year) with an automated browser. It lists five quantity tiers, from C$6,128.22 for one to nine coins down to C$6,093.06 for 100 or more.

GoldVetted automated price checks on Monday 12 October 2026. Bullion Mart at 08:50 UTC (4:50 a.m. ET), spot C$5,952.74; the other three at 07:51 UTC, spot C$5,961.43. Spot from gold-api.com. A Maple Leaf holds one troy ounce of 99.99% gold, so premium = price ÷ spot − 1. Bullion Mart's page notes that random-year coins may be from years with different purity; every coin weighs one troy ounce of gold. See the premium tracker for later checks.

On one coin, Bullion Mart was C$62.15 dearer than Gold Stock Canada but C$73.79 cheaper than TD's listing. Because the market was moving between checks, treat gaps under about 0.2% as noise. Our premium calculator lets you test any quote against today's spot.

Payment: what methods does Bullion Mart accept?

Bullion Mart wants payment immediately, and warns that unpaid orders may be repriced to the current market. Its accepted methods:

  • Interac e-Transfer in Canadian dollars, with the sender's name matching the billing name. You can send several transfers if you hit your bank's limit.
  • Wire transfer in CAD or USD; details are sent after you order.
  • Certified cheques and drafts from Canadian or US banks, postmarked within two business days. Personal cheques are held for 15 days.
  • PayPal for orders up to C$1,500, shipped only to a verified PayPal address.

Two points to note. Its payment policy says it no longer accepts credit cards online or in store (debit only in store), although its pickup page still mentions credit cards at the facility. And it does not accept direct bank deposits or branch-to-branch transfers, which it warns may delay shipping by more than 30 days. Orders over C$10,000 may need two pieces of ID, a utility bill and an enhanced due diligence form, in line with Canada's anti-money laundering rules for dealers.

Shipping, insurance and pickup

Bullion Mart's shipping policy sets a flat fee for orders under C$500 and free standard Canada Post shipping from C$500 to C$1,000, with expedited shipping for a flat fee; the site-wide banner advertises free shipping over C$1,000. Check the cart total before paying. HST is added to shipping and insurance charges, although the gold itself is tax-free.

Insurance runs until the parcel is signed for or the courier marks it delivered, and the cap is C$25,000 per shipment. An order for C$62,500, for example, ships as three parcels and you pay for all three. Letting someone else sign, or waiving the signature, voids the insurance. Delivery is quoted at 1 to 7 business days from payment, and shipping to an address other than your billing address needs the recipient's ID and a utility bill.

One clause stands out. The shipping policy says that if a customer posts a bad review while a delivery problem is still being resolved, Bullion Mart may deduct C$100 a day "towards business loss due to that review". We have not seen this in other dealers' terms. Read it before you order, and keep complaints to direct contact until a claim is settled.

Toronto buyers can avoid shipping by picking up at the North York store, Monday to Friday 10 am to 6 pm and Saturday 11 am to 3 pm, with valid ID; call ahead. Our guide to buying gold in Toronto covers other local options.

Selling gold back to Bullion Mart

Bullion Mart publishes its buyback rule as a percentage rather than a price list:

Bullion Mart buyback terms (published October 2026)
What you sellBullion Mart paysExample: 1 oz at spot C$5,952.74
Bullion bars and coins bought from Bullion Mart98% of spotC$5,833.69
Bars, coins and scrap bought elsewhereUp to 97% of spotUp to C$5,774.16
Minimum saleC$1,000

Examples apply Bullion Mart's stated percentages to gold-api.com spot at 08:50 UTC on 12 October 2026. They are not quotes; the dealer confirms a price by phone, and its index prices are indicative.

To sell, you call to agree a price, post the metal, and Bullion Mart says it pays the day it arrives, by bank transfer or cheque. Its payment policy lists cheques by regular mail (no fee) or by FedEx (C$25), with processing taking up to two business days from receipt. Applying the 98% rule to our capture: buying one Maple Leaf at C$6,128.22 and selling it straight back would cost about C$295, or 4.8%. That spread is why short holding periods rarely pay. Gains on disposal are generally capital gains, half of which is taxable; see our Canadian gold tax guide and compare buyers on where to sell gold in Canada.

Storage: can Bullion Mart hold your gold?

Yes. Bullion Mart offers segregated storage (your items kept separately from other clients' metal) in its own insured vault, with quarterly updates according to its About page. Its custody terms hold items "on a said-to-contain basis", which means it does not verify what is inside sealed packages you deposit.

Bullion Mart storage fees (published October 2026)
Account valueAnnual fee
Up to C$500,0000.80%
C$500,001 to C$1,000,0000.65%
Over C$1,000,0000.50%
Minimum feeC$150 per six-month period
Withdrawal by courierC$30 per package plus shipping

The C$150 half-yearly minimum means you pay at least C$300 a year, which equals 0.80% only once you store about C$37,500. Fees are billed every six months, with a late fee of C$30 or 1.5%, and the terms let Bullion Mart sell stored metal to recover unpaid fees under Ontario's Repair and Storage Lien Act. Our gold storage guide compares this with home storage and other vaults.
