We apply the same published criteria to every dealer. This is not a star rating and it is not based on testimonials. It reflects what we could confirm from BGASC's own policy pages, its owner's filings and independent review sites. Read how we review gold dealers.

Who owns BGASC?

BGASC began as an independent California dealer. On October 25, 2022, JM Bullion, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of A-Mark Precious Metals, closed its purchase of BGASC's assets: the website, domain, trademarks, customer list and other intellectual property, for $4.5 million in cash. The press release said BGASC had over 120,000 customers and 2021 revenue in excess of $200 million, and that JM Bullion would run it as a separate brand.

A-Mark has since renamed itself Gold.com, Inc. and moved its listing to the New York Stock Exchange. In practice, that makes BGASC a sister brand of JM Bullion, with a large listed group behind it. It also explains why the two share very similar terms on shipping and payment discounts. Our BGASC vs JM Bullion comparison sets them side by side.

How much does BGASC charge?

Every dealer sells at the spot price (the live market price of one ounce) plus a premium, the extra that covers minting, handling and the dealer's margin. We normally measure that premium by reading the single-coin price on a dealer's product page.

We tried to capture BGASC's price for a 1 oz American Gold Eagle (random year) on the morning of October 12, 2026. Its product pages returned a "please confirm your humanity" screen to our automated browser, and its category page loads prices only after that check. BGASC's site does not allow automated price checks, so we do not publish a premium for it. Here is what two competitors charged for the same coin that morning:

1 oz American Gold Eagle (BU, random year), single coin, October 12, 2026 (spot $4,181.70)
DealerCheck or wire pricePremium
SD Bullion$4,324.313.41%
APMEX$4,418.595.66%
BGASCNot shown: site does not allow automated price checks

GoldVetted automated price check, 07:51 UTC (3:51 a.m. ET) on Monday, October 12, 2026. Spot from gold-api.com. A Gold Eagle holds one troy ounce of gold in a 22-carat (91.67%) alloy, so premium = price ÷ spot − 1. Later checks are on the premium tracker.

The gap between those two dealers was $94.28 on one coin. That is the reason to price any order at two or three dealers before paying. Open the same product at BGASC, set the payment method to wire or check, and put the total into our premium calculator to see how it compares with the figures above.

Payment options and discounts

BGASC's payment page sets out each method, its order limit and whether it earns a discount. The cash discount is the largest saving most buyers can make.

BGASC payment methods (published October 2026)
MethodOrder size allowedDiscount
Bank wire$1,000 to $250,0004%
ACH / eCheckUp to $100,0004%
Personal check, cashier's check, money orderUp to $75,0004%
CryptoUp to $250,0003%
PayPalUp to $60,000None
Credit or debit card, Apple Pay, Google PayUp to $50,000None

On a single 1 oz gold coin priced around $4,400, 4% is roughly $176. Two catches: wire payments must arrive, and checks must be postmarked, within one business day or BGASC may cancel and apply its Market Loss Policy (you cover any fall in price since the order). Personal and bill-pay checks are also held for 4 to 6 business days before the order moves on. Once you have a confirmation number, the order is a binding agreement.

Shipping and insurance

BGASC ships free on orders over $199, using the carrier of its choice (USPS, FedEx or UPS); you can pay to upgrade to expedited shipping on most orders. Orders usually leave the next business day after payment clears. Every package is insured while in transit, and any package of $1,000 or more needs a signature on delivery. USPS parcels go by Ground Advantage or Registered Mail.

It ships Monday to Friday to US addresses only, plus US military APO addresses. It does not ship internationally.

Selling gold back to BGASC

BGASC buys back common bullion such as Gold Eagles, Buffalos, Krugerrands and 1 oz bars, and lists its current buy prices on its Sell to Us page. The process is phone-led:

  1. Call to start a sale. The price is locked during the call, and a confirmation email follows with shipping instructions.
  2. Ship the metal. Trades are subject to its Market Loss Policy if you do not follow through.
  3. BGASC checks authenticity and condition, then pays by check ($50 fee), bank wire ($25 fee) or ACH.

The minimum sale is $1,000 across the whole order, so it is not set up for a single small coin. A dealer's buy price is always below its sell price; that gap is the spread you need gold to cover before a sale breaks even. Compare at least two buyers using our guide to where to sell gold in the US. Gains on gold held more than a year are generally taxed as collectibles at up to 28% (IRS Topic 409); see our US gold tax guide.

Storage and gold IRAs

BGASC does not list its own vault storage for everyday purchases; it ships to your door. For retirement savers it offers a precious metals IRA service, where you open a self-directed IRA with a custodian, fund it, and then buy IRA-eligible products through BGASC. Its IRA page says it charges no extra fee for this service, but custodian and depository fees still apply. Our gold IRA guide explains those costs.

What customers say

We do not publish testimonials or invent ratings. These are the scores shown on independent sites when we checked on October 12, 2026:

BGASC on third-party review sites
SiteScore shownBased on
Better Business BureauA+ rating (directory listing)BBB's own rating method
Trustpilot3.5 out of 57,721 reviews (profile claimed December 2014)

A 3.5 from more than 7,700 reviews is a mixed picture. The complaints shown most prominently involve damaged coins and slow shipping or tracking. Inspect parcels before you sign, photograph anything damaged, and read the cancellation terms before checkout.

Pros

  • 4% off for wire, ACH or check; 3% for crypto
  • Free, insured shipping over $199
  • Backed by the same listed group as JM Bullion
  • High order limits for wire and crypto
  • Gold IRA service with no extra BGASC fee

Cons

  • Card and PayPal pay full price
  • Buyback minimum of $1,000 and payout fees on check or wire
  • US delivery only
  • Middling Trustpilot score
  • Its site does not allow independent automated price checks

Who BGASC suits, and who should look elsewhere

Good fit: US buyers who pay by wire, ACH or check, want common coins and bars delivered, and like the reassurance of a large listed owner.

Look elsewhere if: you live outside the US, you want to sell back less than $1,000, or you want a dealer whose price we have checked. See the best places to buy gold in the US for every dealer we cover.

Frequently asked questions

Is BGASC legit?

BGASC is an established US online bullion dealer. In October 2022, JM Bullion, part of A-Mark Precious Metals (now Gold.com, Inc.), bought the BGASC website, brand and customer list for $4.5 million. At the time BGASC had more than 120,000 customers and 2021 revenue above $200 million. BBB's directory shows an A+ rating.

Who owns BGASC?

Since October 25, 2022, the BGASC brand has belonged to JM Bullion, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of A-Mark Precious Metals, which has since renamed itself Gold.com, Inc. JM Bullion said it would run BGASC as a separate brand. That makes BGASC and JM Bullion sister companies.

Does BGASC give a discount for paying by wire or check?

Yes. Its payment page lists a 4% cash discount for bank wire (orders of $1,000 to $250,000), ACH or eCheck, personal and cashier's checks and money orders, and a 3% discount for crypto. Card, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay get no discount. Personal checks are held 4 to 6 business days.

Does BGASC ship internationally?

No. Its shipping page says it ships Monday to Friday to US addresses only, with the exception of US military APO addresses. Buyers in the UK, Canada or Australia should use a local dealer; see our US buying guide for how BGASC compares with other US dealers.

Does BGASC buy gold back?

Yes. You call to lock a price, ship the metal, and BGASC pays after checking it, by check ($50 fee), bank wire ($25 fee) or ACH. The minimum sale is $1,000 for the whole order. Read where to sell gold in the US to compare buyers.

Why doesn't GoldVetted publish a BGASC price?

BGASC's product pages returned a human-verification screen to our automated checker on October 12, 2026. Its site does not allow automated price checks, so we do not publish a premium for it. We compare it on payment discounts, shipping and buyback terms instead.

Is BGASC or JM Bullion better?

They share an owner and have the same headline terms: a 4% discount for check or wire and free shipping over $199. Differences are in range, payment limits and service. See BGASC vs JM Bullion for a side-by-side.
